Rude Awakening

Normally, I have a lovely, peaceful view of the lake from my window.

This morning, however, around 8:30 AM, I awoke to the sound of a Vietnam war movie in surround sound, with this blight on the view outside my window.

Yes, that is a starring helicopter about 30 feet away. Needless to say, it was loud as all hell and goddamn annoying, too. 8:30 AM on a Sunday morning? So unnecessary.

So what was it doing there? It wasn't a joyride, but it's not clear from the picture. Maybe it wasn't unnecessary to someone...

Really nice photo comparison, by the way.

Thanks.

They were lifting these big grate things from street level to the roof of the building next door.

Whatever it was, it didn't look like it needed to be done at that very second (such as, say, an emergency or accident of some sort).

Hilarious!

That looks more like miami than chicago, though. I wish I lived by the lake.

Question 1: Was the helicopter playing "Die Walkure, Ride of the Valkyrie?"

Statement 1: That is one kickass view!

Answer to Question 1: Cute. :) I think I heard a "Take me to your leader" in there somewhere, too.

And thanks, guys...I love the view, too (sans helicopter, that is!). In exchange, I pay a lot for a small apartment. Ah well, c'est la vie! Just a primer for NY living, I suppose. :)

As much as I love my apt here, I really miss waking up with a view of the lake. Sigh.
